About Norwegian Alpaca
Norsk Alpakka consists of four equal interests spread throughout the country. Olav Reidar and Connie from Hornindal, Leif Inge and Bjørg Anita from Bromma, Asbjørn and Anne Line from Sigdal and Leiv Øystein and Gro Anett from Vikedal. Olav Reidar and Connie imported alpaca fromChilein 2004, and it was through them we remaining partners purchased our alpacas.
By 2006 all four partners had established alpaca operations. Our original intension for obtaining alpacas was to breed and run these fascinating animals with the advantage of not having to select and send the seasonal selection to the slaughterhouse. Running an alpaca operation is comparable to a marriage, since alpacas have a lifespan of up to 25 years. Similar to horses, alpacas have a very good memory; therefore alpaca handling will determine what kind of relationship will prevail.
We at Norsk Alpakka take pride in our livestock and wish to include this fantastic animal in Norwegian agriculture.
Norsk Alpakka would like everyone to discover the fantastic qualities of alpaca fiber through our products. It is light, comfortable, cools and warms and isolates for perfect comfort.
We take our task seriously by presenting pure, luxurious alpaca fiber in our finished products. We offer Norwegian quality products that we have followed from birth to first shearing then to processing, packaging and sales. We offer products that are environmentally-friendly, that have travelled short distances, where consideration has been taken to both animals and people.
