Visit us at our farm

The four families that constitute Norsk Alpakka run four individual farms throughoutNorway. If you would like to pay us a visit, you are more than welcome.

Hornindal

Alpacas of Norway was established by Connie and Olav Reidar Haugen in 2004. We live and run our alpaca farm in Hornindal – a breathtaking valley in the northwest part of southernNorwaynear Europe’s deepest lake, HornindalLake. Our valley is located between fjords and mountains in the midst of tourists’ popular ‘Golden Route’. The idea of alpacas was sparked in the 1990’s when we were visiting family in the U.S. and discovered alpaca breeders.  They have been importing and breeding alpacas since 1983 and is the country outside ofSouth Americawith the largest population of alpacas. After intensive research, we decided to go for it. We received our first import of 15 alpacas from Chile New Years Eve 2004!

Bromma

AlpakkaBromma is owned and run by Bjørg Anita andLeif Inge Reime. We are located in Bromma, Hallingdal on the road betweenOsloandBergen. During summer months there are thousands of tourists stopping to take photos of our alpacas. Originally our farm has been a sheep farm, but we are phasing out that part of production. In the past year we have sold animals from Namskogan in the north to Lista in the south. We have fallen completely for these wonderful animals, and see a bright future in alpaca breeding. Stop by for a chat and enjoy a look at our alpacas.

Solheim

Gro Anett and Leiv Øystein live on a small farm in Vikedal (outside Haugesund) with their two children. We were the first in Rogaland to start with alpacas. When we took over the family farm in 2006, we had already decided to purchase our first alpacas. Since we both work outside of the home, it was important that the animals we chose were easy to combine with our busy schedules and alpacas are not demanding. There was already a small but established herd of sheep on the farm that kept the pastures in order. It wasn’t long before we grew frustrated with the sheep’s inconsideration of fence boundaries and were often found in the neighbours rose bushes! We are now free for sheep and enjoy the quiet and gentle disposition of the alpacas. In addition to alpaca, we have anIcelandpony and ten hens that provide us with eggs. We often have visitors that are curious about these fine animals and everyone is welcome.

Sigdal

Anne Line and Asbjørn live on a small farm in Sigdal, Buskerud, with their four children. We started with alpacas in 2006 quite by chance.  We did not want to start with meat production, fiber and breeding appeared much more interesting. It wasn’t long before we had our first two pregnant females, Bolette and Fredrikke from Hornindal. Asbjørn is an ambulance chauffeur and coordinates the ambulance services in our district with office facilities on our farm, and is often on the premises.  This allows for him to keep an eye on our alpacas. We also run two farms for grass production and have plenty to do.

We have been foster parents since 2006. She is our fourth child. The ability to be at home and available for our children and our animals has been a priority of ours. We feel that the opportunity our children have, getting to know our alpacas and their individual personalities, quiet presence and herd instincts is a privilege.  During the summer months, many interesting people stop to watch our alpacas at pasture.
